Nominating Committee
The IIC Nominating Committee is responsible for recommending new directors to the board, members to serve on committees, and recipients of both the Fellow of the IIC (FIIC) and Honorary Membership. The committee is comprised of the past-president as chair, current president and one other board-appointed director, along with representatives from each of the five regions in Canada who are senior practitioners, well respected in the insolvency community and have demonstrated a strong commitment to the IIC.
Each spring, the Nominating Committee puts forward a Call for Expressions of Interest for vacancies on the Board of Directors and IIC Committees. These vacancies fluctuate depending on when the terms of the sitting members end.
A volunteer list is maintained of those who have responded to the Call for Expressions of Interest, however there are no guaranteed placements on either the Board of Directors or a committee.
Board Director Positions
The mandate of the Nominating Committee is to review potential candidates for director positions, both from the membership-at-large, and those members who have submitted an expression of interest to serve. All IIC members except academic and honorary members can serve on the Board of Directors.
As part of the review process, the committee will consider a number of creditors, including whether the member:
Deliberations will also take into consideration gender, geography, and profession.
The Nominating Committee also reviews the service of the directors completing their first three-year term on the board to determine if they will be recommended to stand for election for a second three-year term.
IIC Committees & Working Group Positions
The Nominating Committee mandate also includes recommendations for IIC Committees and Working Groups.
This includes reviewing the IIC committees each spring with the goal of providing a suggested list of new committee candidates to the Board of Directors.
